Q,
If you stare at this long enough you will find a face staring back at you before too long. Seriously. There is a mouth and two eyes. The branches serve as the hair.
From the looks of it, this tree has been around the block a few times. This tree has seen things . .
Oh it has many things to say, now that I’ve looked at it more ways than the one.
A tree trunk is usually interesting in and of itself, but the shapes that . . how should I say this, jut from it are provocative? Yeah, that’s definitely a keeper right there as far as captures go.
You said…trees have faces. That’s exactly how Hicks put it. I even wrote a piece way back when. It’s in New York Diary, a collection of early blog essays I put together. To this day, when I’m in the Park, I look and sure enough, an Oak, or a Maple will be looking at me. π
Rochelle and Frank, always beat me. This made me take pause. Bill Hicks, rest his soul, taught me way back when, that trees have faces, and yours, Miss Dale, is no exception. You made me pause pensively…poignantly recalling a lovely sentiment I haven’t thought of, in a great while. Thank you.
That’s coz you are a smart one and get your run in first! Bill was right. I do believe they do. Especially this one! I promised Marc no clouds or flowers today π
And you know I love how my photos evoke memories or feeling in you so your comment has just made my day.
Hahahaha!
OR
It’s a face, like those wooden masks, with hair coming out of the top and those breasts are eyes and the thingmabobber is a mouth or nose…
OR
You’re right!
Magnificent trunk

I was torn between thinking it looked like a woman dancing or one of those old wooden masks with the hair sticking out.
Love that we see what we see!

B,
I know! That’s why I took it. It was staring at me and I thought… Hmmm, it has something to say.
I think you’re right. The tales it could tell…

Dear Dale,
There’s something fascinating about gnarled old tree trunks, isn’t there? You’ve certainly captured this one in all it’s gnarly glory, my friend.
Shalom and lotsa tree-hugging hugs,

Dear Rochelle,
I agree. This one called to me to stop and take a closer look! (I almost responded with my phone than thought the better of it… π )
Shalom and lotsa tree-hugging love,

Always…never fails. They bring up all kinds of memories, even if they pinch a little.

I’m glad… Not that they pinch but that you feel…

What a tree, Dale. There are several things to be seen here. A guy in sunglasses, a bulldog, a seal, a face. Wonderful photo.

I love the strength of this tree – and after reading the comments – I see so many extras – also – the bark was unusual in color and texture – nice WW
