This reminds me of the Dunker Church at the Antietam Battlefield in Sharpsburg Maryland, an iconic sight from the American Civil War. It’s also very Edward Hopperesque in its stark simplicity. Your photos never fail to evoke so much for me, as though they are a continuance of all that was beautifully photographed and painted before. How’s that for a review Madam. 🙂
I love that my photos evoke something. I had two rather stark photos but opted for this one because I love barns, event is only two sides are left!
And this was a marvellous review! Thank you!
Google Dunker Church. You’ll see what I mean, and after all this time, still stands. The Battle of Antietam happened in 1862. It was the bloodiest day in American history, with a combined tally of 22,717 dead, wounded, or missing in one day. sigh
Your photographs tend to do that. Always. It’s big Dale, to be that evocative. It’s what art is supposed to be, at least that’s what I always thought. 🙂
She listens carefully to the crunch of the snow. It has been so long since she has spoken to anyone her soul wants it to be a man. She dare not look out for fear of being seen. Deserted cottage is the role being played today. The birds are still and the footfalls silent. Is that a hand on the latch? Any second now her heart will burst in anticipation. The door swings open and she cries.
I figured the snow was so packed that why bother bringing my snowshoes? Well hell. Did I curse myself for not. If I had stayed on the groomed trails, I would have been okay… But noooo… I just had to go to the path less taken. All 7 km (4+ miles) of it.

I remember reading about it. What a horrid day. 😦 And yes, I can see why you were reminded. Kinda cool that it came to you!

It’s an added bonus when it does. I’m glad my photos do that for you, Susannah. It makes it even more worthwhile to share them. 😊

Dear Rochelle,
And yet, it was not too bad… But it was an icy-blue-sky day.
Glad you like my simplicity.
Shalom and Lotsa warmer days ahead love,

For me, lonely and cold … or cold and lonely.

Yes. It does seem that way .. maybe why I left the lone cross country skier in the image…

This is so stark and lonely, it actually makes me think Fargo.

B,
When I took it, I thought of that lonely tree I gave you for WW years ago. And yes, it does look stark and lonely. So of course, I had to use it.
